MCT: Stamp of the Month

by Veronica

One of my favorite things to do is get together with family - the WHOLE family! I think that's one of the big reasons why I love the holidays so much. This Sunday, my ENTIRE family (a total of 19 of us - age 59 {Dad} to 1 {nephew, Max}) will get together at a local indoor water park for seven hours of good ol' fashion F-U-N!

The best part? My parents are footin' the bill! So to thank them, I thought it would be nice to make a little water-themed card that my brothers, sister and I could all sign. (Mom, I know you're reading this. Please act surprised when we give this to you on Sunday. *giggle*)

If you've been following me for any length of time, you probably notice that this isn't my typical style of project. It's fun to try something different every once in a while! I cut the turtle using the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge and my Cricut. The water is made up of torn blue card stock. For added pizzazz, I outlined the card base and threw on a few little dots with my white gel pen.

The sentiment, "Heart to heart", is from MCT's 1st Edition stamp set, You Had Me at Chocolate. This month, Emma is selecting THREE "Stamps of the Month" (one from each of her first three releases) to put on sale! You can also join in on the fun by creating a project using any stamp set from MCT's first three releases and joining the Linky Party on Emma's blog!

I hope you were inspired!

MCT February Release Blog Hop

by Veronica

Hey there, Hoppers! If you've arrived here from Trell's blog, you are on the right bunny trail! If not, I recommend going back to Emma's blog to start the hop from the beginning (and hear some exciting news!).

For today's project, I made a sweet little 3-1/2" square Easter card for my Hunny Bunny. After stamping the adorable trotting bunny (MCT's Happy Hunting) and coloring him with my Copics, I popped him up on the green shape that I cut using the XL Label Die. To get the grass to fit perfectly on the cut-out, I first punched the grass out with my Fiskar's Grass Punch and then ran that through my Big Shot with the XL Label Die.

I used Spring Chicken Backgrounds for the background patterns on the yellow square and green cut-out. To get the shiny look, I stamped them in Versamark and then embossed them with clear embossing powder. The sentiment was also stamped in Versamark, but I embossed it with white embossing powder so it really stands out. I cut the end of the sentiment piece into a little flag and (of course) I popped that up on the card. Letting the end hang off the card really adds some 'oomph' to the design.

MCT Sneak Peek #3: Birthday Balloons

by Veronica

The Hubs and I don't have any kids yet. In fact, we don't plan on starting our family for a few years. We have our kitty, Harley, and will one day get the precious Golden Doodle I've been pining for. But when it comes to kids, we've got time and plenty of nieces and nephews to play with, spoil, and deliver back to their respective parents.

Our youngest nephew, Max (ninth in line in the niece/nephew department), will celebrate his 1st birthday next week. I have the privilege of not only being his (favorite) *giggle* Aunt, but also his Godmother. For his card, I designed a little 'outside of the box'.

The 'balloons' on this card were cut using the Layering Egg Dies from the new MCT stamp set, Hello Spring (available this Thursday). I embossed the balloons with stamps from the same set and added some rhinestones for a little extra sparkle.

Tip: MCT stamps are quite pliable. You can create new 'shapes' of your stamps by sticking them onto your acrylic blocks differently. On this card, I took the straight stripes stamp and 'waved' it on my block to get the fun wavy lines on the teal balloon.

I faux-stitched the green card base for some added texture and popped the balloons, sentiment and number up for dimension. The number "1" was cut using the Mickey Font cartridge on my Cricut. The sentiment (MCT's Wow! So Many Candles) was embossed in white to really stand out.

The size of this card (4-1/8" square) allowed for the sentiment and balloons to 'hang over' the edge while still fitting in a standard A2 sized envelope.

MCT 3-D Wednesday: Kickin' Off Valentine's Week

by Veronica

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! As I've mentioned before, I like to have something special for my husband each day for the week leading up to the big V-day. To kick off Valentine's Week 2012, I decided to make something a bit different... a puzzle!

The Hubs and I LOVE puzzles. We're not really Jigsaw Puzzle kind of people. But we love logic puzzles! So to get his Thinker a-movin' and a-groovin', I created this little Puzzle of Love for him to take to work and play with for the day.

I glued together six die (not to worry, I have 6 more in my stash. What? You don't have 12 pink die laying around? *giggle*) into a funky little shape and slipped them into a cello bag. After printing out the instructions (with an added hint at the bottom), I closed the bag up and added my adorable little topper.

The topper base is made out of Stampin' Up!'s red glitter card stock that I cut with MCT's XL Label Die. I cut the Stitched Heart (included in the 100% Sweetness set) out of pink card stock and hand cut a little arrow. After stamping the "Lucky in love" sentiment (I Believe in Leprechauns), I hand cut it into a funky shape and glued it to the topper.

The instructions inside the bag say:

Puzzle of Love
Can you figure out what
this puzzle means? Use
your skills of logic to
decipher the hidden code.
Here's a hint: It's cause for
a celebration... of love!
Don't tell The Hubs: the answer is 6/17/11 - our anniversary! (6   1(5+2)   11)

I hope you were inspired!
