MCT Favorite Stamps of the Month

by Veronica

Howdy! Welcome to the latest installment of Emma's Favorite Stamps of the Month! For the month of June, THREE stamp sets will be on sale at the My Creative Time Online Store: You're My Best Buddy (just in time for Father's Day), My Little Firecracker (perfect for your Independence Day projects) and Have Fun in the Sun (great for your summer layouts and cards).

My project today uses Have Fun in the Sun in a bit of a non-traditional way. In fact, the whole layout is a bit different.

Most scrapbook pages are expected to have photos on them. But every once in a while, I like to create a page that sets the mood for the pages following it. This "title" page is for my Disney World album (that I'm still working on a year and a half later... *cough*).

I used the Alphalicious Cricut Cartridge to cut out my letters and shadows (except for "Disney", which was cut using the Mickey and Friends cartridge). The arrow was cut using the Accent Essentials cartridge. To add some visual interest, I 'threaded' the "O" and "D" with the arrow.

The little Mickey and Minnie driving away in the car was hand cut out of a piece of paper (found at my local Debbie's Dollar Store). I stamped "Magic" from Have Fun in the Sun and cut it out in a rectangle to make the Mouse's license plate.

If you're interested in playing along, you can link up your project using any of the three "Favorite Stamps of the Month" on Emma's blog!

I hope you were inspired!

My Creative Time May Release Blog Hop: Mustachio Straws

by Veronica

It's here, it's here! The May Release Blog Hop is HERE!!! I'm sure you hopped here from Trell's blog, but if not, take a gander over to Emma's blog to start the Hop from the beginning.

Today I have a SUPER simple project for you! There has been some hair raising excitement over mustaches lately (See what I did there? Hair raising... *giggle*). What's all the fuss about? I don't know, really. But they sure are CA-UTE! I might be a bit biased as I'm married to a Mustache - well, a MAN with a mustache...

Not wanting to be left out this Summer, I thought it would be fun to create some fancy Faux-staches that I can 'wear' while enjoying a cold beverage.

Like I said, this project is SO simple to make! First I cut out the mustache dies included in the new What's Growing On? set by My Creative Time (on sale, along with the ENTIRE release until midnight TONIGHT) in brown card stock. I then punched a little more than half a circle hole in the bottom of the 'staches using the large hole in my Crop-a-Dile. All I had to do after that was slide the mustaches onto my straws (I recommend sliding them into one of the grooves on the bendy part - they'll stay that way). Voila! Mustachio Straws complete!

What's Growing On? Stamp & Die Set
Funny side note: I'm pretty sure the neighbor boys jumping on their trampoline now regard me as the Crazy Neighbor Lady after watching me during my outdoor photo shoot. *giggle*

MCT May Release Sneak Peek #4: So Sweet!

by Veronica

Hello, hello! Today is Day 4 of the My Creative Time May Release Sneak Peeks! Today I'm showcasing the new stamp and die set, Celebrate Good Times. I'm also using the new Tag Dies as my little tag base.

The Tag Dies are straight and a pretty handy size (about 2.5" x 4.5"). They're great to use as-is, but I wanted to try something a little different. To achieve my little tag base, I just folded the scalloped tag in half, punched two holes in the 'back' (using my Crop-a-Dile) and threaded my ribbon through the back and tied it in front (after threading BOTH ends of my ribbon through the one front hole).

After die cutting my cupcake, I popped it up onto my base and added Star Dust Stickles to highlight the frosting. The sentiment was stamped, matted and adhered to the very back of the tag base. I punched another hole in the top, left corner (through the entire tag base) to add a ribbon that will attach to my package.

To open the tag and reveal who it's from, just untie the bow!

MCT May Release Sneak Peek #3: Pocket Full of Birthday Wishes

by Veronica

Well, HELLO there! Thanks for dropping by today for another Sneak Peek of My Creative Time's May Release.

Today we're featuring Fun Pockets - a great set for so many occasions! My project is another 4" x 4" card (can you tell that I LOVE this size?). I used the die from this set for my jean pocket.

Tip: After many tries, I could NOT get the die to cut through my thick denim material (a pair of jean capris that have holes in them and were headed for the trash anyway). So I ran it through my Big Shot several times (using a few pieces of card stock for extra 'shims') to get the indent of the die on the fabric. Then, I just used my scissors to cut out the shape.

I stamped the flowers, colored them with my Copics, glittered them (Star Dust Stickles) and popped them up on my card to spill out of the pocket. See the 'stitching' on the outside of the red card stock? It's totally fake! I just paper pierced along the edges and used my white gel pen to connect the dots. The layout of this card is quite simple, but all the layers give it a much more detailed look.

MCT May Release Sneak Peek #2: Father's Day Mustache

by Veronica

Welcome to Day 2 of the My Creative Time May Release Sneak Peeks! Today's featured stamp set is Here's Lookin' At You - perfect for Grads and Dads!

My 4" x 4" card for today was definitely inspired by my Dad and his mustache. We've always called him the Silver Fox because since I can remember, he's always had black and silver hair (more silver than black nowadays *giggle*). To achieve my salt and pepper mustache, I cut the 'stache with the die from What's Growing On? in silver card stock and used a black fine tip marker to add the black 'hair'.

I added some flair to my card base by stamping the tiny mustaches from Here's Lookin' At You in Versamark ink and embossing with clear embossing powder. The sentiment is also from today's featured set. This black/gray/silver card is just PERFECT for my Dad this Father's Day!

MCT May Release Sneak Peek #1: I See You...

by Veronica

I'm so lucky to get to preview each My Creative Time Release every month. And every month, RIGHT before Emma sends me the drafts for the new release, I think to myself, There's no way she's topped last month's Release... And guess what? Each month - she does!

The May Release is chock FULL of fun images and sentiments that you can use for SO MANY occasions! Today, the Design Team is featuring What's Growing On?

Using the eyeglasses die (included in the set along with 3 adorable mustaches) and sentiment from this set, I created a bright, cheerful 4" x 4" card that can be used for almost any occasion. The design of this card is very simple and only uses pop dots, fun ribbon and faux stitching to make it POP. I hung the sentiment off the card a bit for added dimension.
